Rene van Wyk Senior Client Partner: Search and Head of Financial Services Practice
Rene van Wyk is a CA (SA), and holds an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Diploma in Advanced Banking from Rand Afrikaans University.
Rene has in excess of fifteen years executive management experience, gained across a variety of industries and sectors. Her focus in the last number of years has been on financial services. She has held a senior management position in corporate banking at Nedbank and most recently, she was a consultant to Rand Merchant Bank. She has also held the position of Managing Director at Thebe ya Bophelo Healthcare Administration (a subsidiary of Thebe Investments) where she introduced a number of initiatives that resulted in significant operational improvements in the company as well as significant increases in the statutory reserves and available funds of the medical aid. |
During Rene's tenure in the accounting profession (at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young) her engagement responsibilities included large multinational companies as well as JSE listed companies across various industries. She also spent time working in the Brussels office of Arthur Andersen. At Arthur Andersen she spearheaded the introduction of a mentorship programme for all new recruits, and served as their representative on the selection panel of potential bursars for the CA's Eden Trust. At Ernst & young she developed an interest in corporate finance and performed a number of due diligence reviews for mergers and acquisitions.
Rene serves as Chairperson of the audit committee of one of the National Government Departments and has previously chaired the audit committee of the National Arts Council. She also serves on the Ethics Committee of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).
Rene joined Leaders Unlimited in September 2005 as head of the financial services practice. In addition to the focus on financial services, she also focuses on conducting CFO search assignments. |
